    October Goals + September Recap

Each month I like to share my goals. Last month I only shared blog and business goals due to my son taking up most of my time. But I think I'm ready to share some personal goals as well. I'll still keep my goals light since having an infant takes up about 90% of my time, but I think goals are important and motivating!SEPTEMBER GOAL RECAPConsistent Posting. FAIL I have been posting, but I wouldn't call it consistent as in every Mon/Wed/Fri like I had been hoping to. But I'm finding a balance and need to figure out what works for me…

How to Cut Distractions and Be More Focused

Cutting distractions and becoming more focused can be important whether you work from home like me, work out of the home or maybe even if you don’t work at all (at a job that is). Everyone has their own set of distractions and certain tasks that knock them off track. I don’t know about you, but I can get distracted by the simple fact that there’s really delicious Thai food left overs in the fridge or that there’s an episode of Pretty Little Liars sitting on Hulu waiting for me to watch it. Add the constant dinging of my phone…

5 Reasons Why I Moved from WordPress to Squarespace

If you've been visiting my blog for a while you know how much I adore Wordpress, I really do! But I recently made the move to Squarespace and I'm happy with my decision. In fact, I'm so confident I payed for a whole year up front. Today I'm going to share the reasons why I, personally, moved to Squarespace. I'm excited to share my experiences as well as tips, tricks, tutorials, etc. since Squarespace definitely seems to be much less popular than Wordpress and Blogger. Some of my reasons kind of go hand in hand, but they are all separate…

    Free Day Planner Printable

The wannabe organized person in me is obsessed with planners. I’ve almost always had a paper planner because I just can’t function properly trying to do it all digitally. About a week ago I transitioned into a small binder-style planner which I shared in a youtube video (at the bottom of post). Right now I only have monthly and weekly pages in there because with being a new mom, most days aren’t planned at all and I just go with the flow rather than getting every day down on paper. However, on the days that I do want to plan…

How I Use CoSchedule + Evernote to Plan Blog Content

Want to save this for later? The way I currently plan and create blog content isn’t exactly profound, but it’s a system that seems to work great for me and I wanted to share that with you today. I think it’s important to have a process, or a system, for anything you do on a regular basis in order to streamline it and save time. After reading my post back, the following can be a little confusing if you’re not familiar with Evernote or CoSchedule, but once you create the system it really makes everything much easier. Evernote: Sign up…

How To Customize MailChimp to Send Automated Sign Up Incentive Email to New Subscribers

Over the past year or so it’s been on my to do list to really focus on my email lists. Though I’m not as obsessed and gung-ho with them as many “experts” tell me I need to be, I still want to have a good list going and think it’s an important aspect of most online businesses. Because I don’t have large lists yet, I don’t feel the need to pay for MailChimp’s automated emails feature, but I do want to be able to incentivize my sign ups. This means I want to be able to offer an incentive for…

Blog + Biz Goals for July 2015

Each month I plan to share my blog and biz goals as well as results from previous months. My intention is to be as transparent and helpful as possible to others in creative business by sharing more behind the scenes type of information that most blogs and businesses don’t really give out. Since I’m currently on maternity leave and also taking some time off to mourn the loss of my father, along with summer generally being slow for design work, I’m working on my business and blog while I have a little extra time not doing client work. Goal #1 |…

Simple Dream Office Inspiration for Under $200

While I’ve been living away from home for the last almost three months with my son in the hospital, I’ve been dreaming about the home office I’ll be putting together when we finally go home. We have a large converted garage that we want to make into somewhat of a studio. It’ll be where I set up my little office nook along with a little exercise area, large worktable, play area for Atlas and a TV area. Since the room is pretty large it should be easy to make all of these spaces work together without making it look too…
