Free Valentine’s Day Printable Cards + DIY Gift Ideas

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I wanted to share a couple of printable Valentine’s Day cards with you! The first card reads “I LOVE US” and the second is a simple “xo”. You can download the cards here as a PDF. It’s a full 8.5″ x 11″ sheet with both cards on it so you can print on cardstock, choose the card you want and cut to size. I don’t know about you, but I think Valentine’s Day is much more special when you skip buying a gift and create a more thoughtful gift instead. So I’ve…

    Friendsgiving + Thanksgiving

The Saturday before Thanksgiving we were excited to invite all of our friends up for a Friendsgiving feast! Since we live about 100 miles away from everyone we figured it’d be a great way to have everyone come visit. Kim came up to help prepare aka be my chef. She brought a chili rubbed turkey for our “Turkey Taco Thanksgiving” theme. On top of that she brought a lot of other stuff and helped a ton in the kitchen. What would I do without her? We’re such opposites which is hilarious because we’ve been friends since Kindergarten. She’s such a…

    Our 4th of July

Happy 4th of July, friends! I know I’m a day late, but here I am to share our day with you. Living in this little town, we don’t know a lot of people. I’m sure if we were back in our hometown we would’ve had our pick of bbq’s and parties to attend. We spent most of the day at home, trying not to overheat and watching a few episodes of our new favorite show, Sons of Anarchy. Once it started to get dark we picked up some veggie burgers at Burger King and headed to find a spot…

    Christmas

Christmas when you’re married (or in any relationship where you’re close to someone else’s family) can be tricky. My family alone celebrates Christmas Eve with our huge extended family on my moms side followed by Christmas morning with our immediate family. But now I have Blaine’s family to think about. This year my mom had to work on Christmas so planning wasn’t hard. Big Christmas Eve with my huge family, Christmas day with Blaine’s and then belated Christmas with my family a few days later. Done. Three Christmas celebrations. I guess four if you count Blaine and I taking a…

    Life Lately

The last few weeks have been more full than our usual hanging at home routine. We had a holiday dinner with Blaine’s work at a nice restaurant that was so fun (photo above). I did a lot of baking and made two batches of caramels that I got a ton of compliments on. And not just the caramels, so many people complimented the packaging which I thought was cute, but didn’t imagine others would take notice. I got an early Christmas present when (if you hadn’t heard on twitter or instagram) Blaine went and adopted Honey Boo Boo as a…

Tutorial // DIY Burlap Holiday Wreath 3 Ways

There’s something about Christmas time that makes me want to create. We needed a wreath and I had really been itching to use some of the burlap we had left from our wedding. I’m pretty pleased with the results! It’s so easy to switch it up too. I’m not sure which I’ll end up with on our front door. My husbands vote was either for the floral one or for the striped one with the bow added on. Which is your favorite?? A Simple Burlap Wreath Step One // Gather Your Supplies Pipe Insulation Tube (local hardware store) Burlap Scissors…

    hello, december.

I’ll admit it, I started listening to Christmas music two days ago. Shame on me. But now it’s December and we’re allowed, right? Spotify is my absolute favorite for listening to music and I have an ever-growing Christmas playlist. Right now? Mostly N’Sync, Glee, She & Him and Hanson. There is a lot of randomness going on in that little list. We’re going to start decorating this weekend and I’m so excited! It amazed me how many people jumped to it the day after Thanksgiving and had their trees and decor all up right away. We wait a bit because…

    Our Thanksgiving (+ Black Friday)

This year was our second year hosting Thanksgiving. Let me just squeeze in here that I am a terrible host. When I go over to peoples houses I don’t expect them to hover over me asking me if I need a drink constantly or anything like that so I’m naturally just laid back when people are at my house. Thanksgiving this year was a small, quiet get together of my family + Blaine’s family. My mother in law took care of a lot of the cooking (thank god I didn’t have to cook a turkey), I made some rolls from…

    Currently

The (too early) Christmas section at Target is amazing. I’ll be using this pic as inspiration rather than buying, though. Watching: Right now I’m watching What Not To Wear. But right now some of my favorite shows are Big Bang Theory, Walking Dead and Revolution. I’ve also been watching Nashville regularly since it started. I’m excited to watch the new season of American Horror Story! We forgot to DVR it, but my sister has it on hers at my dads house so one of these days we’ll have to veg out on her bed and catch up. Listening to: I’ve…
