Foster Pupdate // Venice is 10 weeks + bonus

Baby Venice is now 10 weeks old! I just can’t believe I’ve had her since she was 5 days old. She’s still so tiny and that’s what everyone says when they see her, but she’s also so BIG to me. The last update I did was for four/five weeks old, right after the third puppy (Malibu) passed away. Luckily, Venice has pushed through for the last five weeks and has surprised us all! Even the vet mentioned he was surprised she had made it this far and she was doing this well when I took her in for her shots…

Foster Pupdate // week four/five + bad news again

To say that fostering this litter of Yorkie puppies has been a stressful, heartbreaking and eye opening experience is a true understatement. I began with the hope of an amateur, knowing that raising puppies from five days old and beyond would be hard, but convincing myself we’d beat the odds. Then Catalina died. Long story short I came downstairs around 3am and she was cold and very weak. I got her to eat a little and then threw on a sports bra where I let her sleep against my chest for warmth and the comforting sound of a heartbeat (like if they were sleeping against their…

Foster Pupdate // week one & two

Meet my newest foster pups: Huntington, Catalina, Venice & Malibu. They are four Yorkie puppies who came to the rescue at just 5 days old. Mom got sick and was stuck in the vet after giving birth and moms owner couldn’t handle the puppies on top of her sick dog. Aren’t they just precious? First, hats off to moms who get up with your babies all through the night. The first few days they had to be fed every two hours which meant I got about 1 hour of sleep at a time. I’m still struggling a bit, but now…
